HowTo: Overclocking the Acer Ferrari One CPU (Update)

I managed to overclock my Acer Ferrari One CPU (AMD Athlon X2 L310) to 1380Mhz!

The SuperPi 1M runs 10s faster (changed from 1:12 to 1:02), the Windows 7 performance index increased from 3.6 to 3.9 in CPU performance and also from 3.3 to 3.5 in graphics performance (More benchmarks to follow…):

    Congrats! 🙂

I need your advise: within 2 weeks, I want to buy a netbook. I have two favorits:

Ferrari One with dual core AMD and ATI 3200, and Asus EEE 1201 with dual core Atom and Ion platform. Wich is the best for some gaming and mostly CPU based applications (photo and music editing)?

Thanks, and keep up the good work with your cool site! 🙂

Thank you! I would prefer the Ferrari One, because the CPU is better than the ATOM N330 ( 3DMark 2006 CPU-Score 859/999oced vs. 767; see http://hothardware.com/articleimages/Item1428/1201n-3dmark06-chart2.png ) and you have the option with the external graphics card, which will give you an extra boost.

I bought my ferrari One 2 weeks ago and love it . I just bought fallout 3 and would like a little extra juice so I started looking around and found this software. I am about to try this but was curious about how stable it ran. Does it ever overheat when pushed hard at your settings? How many frames can i expect from fallout on low? Also, I can’t find any proof that this shipset is limited to 4gb ram. I know Win7 home premium supports 16gb so whats stopping us from using (2) 4gb dimms?

    Hi Sean!

How playable the Fallout 3 on Ferrari? Runs smooth or laggy? How detailed?

I have mine on low settings right now with a VERY playable frame rate but adding eye candy kills it real quick. When is the XGP card supposed to come out?? Has anyone tried swapping ram for (2) 4GB sticks? Every spec sheet I see says 4gb max, but W7 prem supports 16gb, anyone ever try?

Also, I am having trouble getting HD vids to play cleanly via iTunes.. pretty choppy

I downloaded a tool called system information from the website link with this post.

It says the max capacity is 8192mb which why may not be quite the 16gb your looking for it does look nice. Now if I just had a spare £250 to spend on the 8 gigs of ram I would be happy, its all so expensive :-/

Even win7 supports up to 16gb, motherboard doesnt, wich is what decides how much amount of ram can be installed at maximum for pc to “notice” it, adding 8gb would only show 4gb still in system properties id say.

Another thing, about ur hd videos being choppy.
Has nothing to do with the pc, nor its parts, even “real full-hd” movies (avatar 1980x1080p wich takes over 10gb of hdd space, works smoothly as hell, on full hd tv and on monitors own display.

Reason is simple enuff tho… iTunes = apple product = fail from the start.
Apple/mac = Shit in way overpriced covers, cheapest parts wich usually arent compatible with normal pc parts -> needing own “apple accessories” = greedy bastards selling overpriced SHIT.

Tip: Sell ur ipad/iphone/any apple products, if i can get rid of them u should be happy, as uve found someone stupid enuff to sell them to 😛

BTW, OC’ing from 1.2 to 1.38 made a slight improvement in frames and my core temps are around 52c under full load.
